After very humble beginnings with the MSC as a U8G team and after spending several seasons with other JLYSSL clubs the FC Tiger Streak has returned to its roots with the MSC as a U14G Class IV team and has had its best season ever! The team has retained a core group of six girls from that U8G team the entire time. They have been the constant and the stability around which the team built its success. A single coach, Erich Tupper, has also gone along for this great ride and has been delighted beyond belief to have witnessed such wonderful growth.
A gold flighting this season set the bar for them and they have cleared it with room to spare. The Tigers were undefeated and finished first in the Gold Flight Division. They dominated the regular competition − 29 Goals For and only 1 goal against (on a penalty shot).
In the end of season Referee Appreciation Tournament, they continued their winning ways, again going undefeated. They scored 9 goals in the first three games with only 1 goal against. The final game of the tournament was fantastic. The two top teams in the division, FC Tiger Streak and ECFC Bears, both undefeated in the tournament played to a 0-0 tie. The Bears claimed first play for the tournament based on scoring one more goal in their first three games.
This year has been a triumph in so many ways for the Tigers. They scored their highest number of goals for and allowed the fewest goals against of any previous season. Playing with a short roster all season long and at times only having 11 or 12 players, individuals have performed at levels they previously hadn't known they could. There have been great strides in their skills, tremendous unity as a team and many life lessons throughout this incredible journey. This journey will influence and possibly even forge the path of all of the Tigers for years to come.
It was a stellar season all around. Along with their winning ways, they took away many, many life lessons that they will undoubtedly carry with them for a very long time.
