Six Montclair teams won their divisions in 2010

Montclair Soccer Club (MSC) continued its tradition of high-quality, winning teams in the Fall 2010 season, when six MSC teams won their divisions.

Clippers U11 Girls, coached by Meredith Brown, were undefeated and untied (10-0-0) in the NorCal Bronze flight, proving that hard work pays off. The team welcomed Doug Kreiss as a new co-coach and three new players in their first NorCal season. They worked hard, had fun and came together like never before. They scored 43 goals, had four shutouts, four 1-goal games, and two 2-goal games, for a goal differential of 35.

Clippers U14Girls, led by coaches Babak Sani and John Murray, won the CYSA District IV Gold flight. The team lost three players during the season, played three games with only 11 girls, and yet won its last seven games in a row to finish 8-1-1. "What these girls accomplished is all the more remarkable given the high level of competition in this age group, with particularly strong teams from all over District IV,” said Babak. “The championship came down to the last game of the season against a strong Alameda team and these girls showed they deserved the top spot."

Clippers U19Girls, coached by Joel Parrot, was the first MSC team to win first place in the CYSA District IV Gold flight. The team started the season with a loss, but won its last three games to finish 7-1-2 with a goal differential of 21. It registered wins of 9-1 and 7-0 during the year. “One particularly memorable game was when we had only nine players show up to play the third place team,” said coach Joel. “The girls held the opponent, who had 15 players, to two goals in a 6-2 win.”

Clippers U11Boys led by coaches Daniel Francis, Jaime Rincon and Eric Heid, won the NorCal Bronze district 4 Bronze division. The team finished the season 10-0 with only 6 goals scored against them during the entire season. “I am most proud of the fact that every single player on the team scored at least one goal during the season,” said coach Dan. Next season the team will moving up to the Silver division of NorCal.

The U9 Girls coached by Hiliary Newman won the JLYSSL rec league Bronze flight, and the Clippers U9 Boys coached by Peter Eichelberger won the NORCAL Bronze flight.
